Mockingjay

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.

It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plains - except Katniss.

The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay - no matter what the personal cost.

Violence
Well, hmm...let's see...it's a war book. People - including an entire hospital - are shamelessly wiped out by both sides. There are mutts, bad guys, and just people in the way who get killed. Katniss herself shoots an unarmed Capitol woman who opened her door. And then you have the whole thing with Peeta having been hijacked and trying to kill Katniss. So there you have it; the book in a nutshell. Think the first book, but with hundreds of people. This is war, baby.
Okay, so my cousin and my aunt are both 'Team Gale'. I liked Gale okay...until this book. He starts creating bombs that work on human sympathy. Meaning; they explode once, wait a few moments, and explode again when people come to help their friends. One of these bombs kills Prim.

Sexual Content
Finnick tells about how President Snow essentially made him a sex slave. He also poses in his underwear for laughs. Besides that, I can't actually think of anything, since Peeta and Katniss don't really have a lot of interaction throughout this book. Except when he tries to kill her, of course. *fake smile*

Other Negative Stuff
Johanna is addicted to morphling, and Katniss lets her siphon off some of her morphling.

This one was not my favorite, and I'll warn you now, it doesn't end completely satisfactorily. However, the ending makes you think about the things that happen, and you (literally) stay up all night rethinking everything, trying to find a way that it would have worked out better. PG-13 again. At first, the ending is horribly disappointing, but after a while, you like it. Or I did, anyway.
